As parents of a toddler and preschooler, we know firsthand the importance of constant child supervision and careful childproofing of the home for added security. We have discovered that the addition of a second child greatly increased our need for expert childproofing. An older child poses safety concerns for the younger child simply because of their advanced abilities and toddler-inappropriate toys and activities. While we were able to get away with some very basic forms of childproofing with our first baby, we were faced with greater challenges once our second child began toddling. In addition, as many parents discover, our second child is a bit more “adventurous.”

Because we wanted to make sure that we were getting the safest possible products, we felt a bit overwhelmed by the task of purchasing child safety items. With the huge selection available through both retail stores and online retailers, which products are the best? We found that many of our friends also felt uncertain when purchasing child safety products - from car seats, to safety gates, to nursery equipment. This began our quest to obtain proper training and product orientation through the International Association for Child Safety in order to educate others to make the safest possible choices for their children.
